The Tricky One
Less than 15% of players got this correct. If only you’d been following our Instagram account, you might have nailed it - we posted a reel about the highest peaks in South America just the week before. Follow us @quizifiedapp for regular tips to help with some of our trickiest questions!
45% of people guessed Peru, but the highest peak is actually Aconcagua, located in Argentina. It’s part of the Andes, the mountain range that runs along the entire western edge of South America - stretching over 4,000 miles from Colombia to Tierra del Fuego.
Standing at 6,961 metres (22,838 feet), Aconcagua is the highest point in South America and the tallest mountain outside of Asia - no other peak in the Western Hemisphere comes close!
Located in Argentina’s Mendoza Province, Aconcagua is also one of the Seven Summits, the tallest mountains on each continent. Its name is believed to come from the Quechua language, meaning "Sentinel of Stone" - and when you see it rising above the clouds, you'll understand why. With its glaciers, rugged slopes, and swirling winds, it's a dramatic and unforgettable destination that's well worth a visit!
